Reflecting on a Special Honour at the Asian Business Awards

London, UK – Celebrating 25 Years of Entrepreneurial Excellence

Supported by - SBI UK , Pratham UK , The Westcombe Group , Koolesh Shah Family Foundation & OakNorth

It is with a profound sense of gratitude that I share my recent recognition at the 25th anniversary of the Asian Business Awards. Being awarded the Eastern Eye Entrepreneur of the Year Award is not just a personal accolade but a testament to the journey we have embarked on at Regent Group.

Our Humble Beginnings

The story of Regent Group began in 2000 when Tharshiny and I started with the simple yet ambitious idea of providing private tuition at £20 an hour. From those early days, our vision has been clear: to make a lasting impact in the world of education.

A Journey Shaped by Challenges and Learning

My own journey from Sri Lanka to the UK at the age of 19, and subsequently qualifying as an accountant before earning an MBA, has been filled with challenges and learning. These experiences have profoundly shaped my approach to education and leadership.

Bridging the Knowing-Versus-Doing Gap

One of the pivotal moments in my career was the development of the Thinking into Character learning programs, a concept inspired by my time at Harvard University. This program reflects my deep interest in bridging the gap between knowledge and action, empowering students to transform their potential into success.

Impacting Lives Through Regent Group

Through Regent, we have reached over 50,000 students with our on-demand and self-paced programs. Each student’s success story reminds us why we embarked on this journey – to unlock the innate potential in every individual.

Gratitude and Looking Forward

I am deeply honoured by this recognition and would like to thank everyone who has been part of our journey at Regent Group. This award is not just for me but for all of us who believe in the transformative power of education. Here’s to continuing our mission of positively impacting lives through learning and development.
