Celebrating International Youth Day 2024

Empowering the Future

Published: 12th August 2024

Every year on 12 August, the United Nations (UN) marks International Youth Day, celebrating the potential of young people as partners in today’s global society. As joint CEO of a business educating thousands of young people in the UK and beyond, and father to two young daughters, I know how crucial it is to support young people so they can achieve and contribute to our world.

I’m proud of the work that Regent Global does to support young people. In July, Regent College London (RCL) achieved excellent student satisfaction rates in the 2024 National Student Survey. RCL scored higher than the national average in several areas, including teaching quality, learning opportunities, and mental wellbeing support services. This success is thanks to our dedicated staff and their hard work in ensuring that RCL students receive the best education and support.

Earlier this summer, we launched Public Learn, an education platform that helps young people in Sri Lanka find free courses online to pursue their dreams. This initiative demonstrates our commitment to expanding educational opportunities and empowering youth globally.

International Youth Day may celebrate younger people, but we should all invest time and energy into achieving our potential, whatever our age. As schools and universities in the UK are out for the summer, why not focus on inside-out education – learning to develop yourself? Rather than the traditional outside-in approach of gaining information, inside-out education emphasizes personal growth.

Through my executive education at Harvard Business School and Stanford University, I learned that with the right mindset, we can achieve whatever we set our minds to. The ideas I share at https://tic.uk.com/ transformed the lives of many Americans from the 1930s to the 1970s, particularly after the Great Depression. Today, leaders of the fastest-growing companies in Silicon Valley, California, follow these principles. I learned about these ideas from the late Professor Clay Christensen and the late Bob Proctor. The inspiring neuroscientist Dr. Tara Swart is a current thinker writing about these concepts. I urge you to explore what you could achieve when you develop the right attitude and mindset.
